Spotlight Dental Hygiene is an independent dental hygiene business located in Richmond Hill, Ontario, founded and operated by Althea Ledgister, R.D.H., a dedicated registered dental hygienist with over 30 years of dental experience in both general and specialist practices. We are passionate about providing exceptional, personalized, gentle treatment that values respect and inclusivity.

Independent hygienists, aka direct-access dental hygienists, have been providing dental hygiene care in alternative settings, to Ontarians since 2007. We are self-regulated health professionals operating our own businesses, increasing access to preventative oral health care.
Independent dental hygienists provide preventive services like cleanings, sealants, fluoride treatments oral cancer screenings and also some cosmetic services like teeth whitening. The codes and fees we use for billing are found in the publicly available ODHA fee guide.
From the moment you arrive, your dental hygiene visit is all about you—your comfort, your concerns, and your unique oral health needs with no rush and no pressure. Your dental hygienist will start by taking the time to truly listen and continue with a detailed oral assessment, honest answers to your questions, and a personalized care plan tailored just for you. You’ll get a thorough, gentle, professional cleaning and tips and tools for keeping your smile healthy at home, because your oral health affects your overall health.
You can also add teeth whitening and/or tooth gems at your visit if you’re looking for a little extra sparkle.
And because your health and safety come first, we always follow strict infection control protocols, so you can relax and feel at ease.

You get treatment by your choice of dental hygienist outside of a traditional dental office. So when you book your appointment at Spotlight Dental Hygiene, you know exactly who your hygienist will be (ME!). Your appointment is all about your needs and the focus will be on you. Other dental services like fillings, braces, dentures etc. are done by your choice of general dentist or dental specialist at their location. You decide! We still encourage you to visit your dentist yearly and referrals can be made when needed.
